Sonnet 008

How does a composer make his music?
Does he write it from his own bitterness?
Or from the taunting voice of his critique -
who desires more of his tears and sadness?
How does a poet find words for his piece?
Does he seize these out from a sweet lover?
Or calls them out from his heart for a tease -
as he keeps his passion for another?
And how does a novelist weave his tale?
Does he write it with fear for rejections?
With such fondness while detesting to fail -
thus, he stays vigilant for his actions?
For vain or love, audience – an essence.
One’s triumph, every writer’s success.

Sonnet 004

A born master of this craft, I am not,
but a foolish lover of such vile art.
Thus, my soul’s pleasure is what I have sought,
as much torment is endured by my heart.
Oh writing! My long time companion,
my dear friend who has offered me a way.
Still, is there hope for my aspiration?
That soon heart aches will receive its pay?
Oh writing! My soul seeks for affection.
How I pray that one day I may harvest,
your love as I hold on to my question:
Shall I ever become an interest?
Writing – such challenge, not an easy game,
My endearing passion, alas, my pain
